Below is a list of 10 things you DON'T WANT
in your new pool table... at ANY price.
PLASTIC OR RUBBER POCKETS - They fail to provide support for your table and add little weight.
PLASTIC OR METAL CORNERS - They break and shift. Provide little support..
MEDIUM GRADE / THIN CLOTH - Wears quickly, costly recovering, provides limited playability, fades. (Need 20-21 oz premium).
THIN OR UNBACKED SLATE - Backing needed for vibration reduction, provides more weight and stability for table.
LIGHTWEIGHT HARDWARE - Will loosen rapidly, slows down action. plays inconsistently. You need thick rail bolts and washers with lock nuts - heavy duty.
UNBONDED CABINET / TABLE FRAMES - Frames and cabinets should be bonded secured at every joint, not screwed in or pieced together. This will cause eventual loosening and movement in your frame. Avoid metal corners with screws.
SMALL SLATE SCREWS (PHILLIPS OR FLATHEAD) - Need heavy hexagonal screws that hold slate in place and do not strip out in the setup or tear down process. Will cause slate to shift.
LIGHTWEIGHT RAILS - Heavy solid wood rails make for better ball response and playability.
INSUFFICIENT TABLE WEIGHT - The heavier the better in pocket billiard tables. More stability, less vibration, no movement.
INEXPERIENCED TECHNICIANS (MOST IMPORTANT) - Your table will only play as good as the day it is installed. It will NEVER get better. If done right, it will stay the same.
