The minimum system requirements are a Pentium 200MHz, 64MB RAM, and 5MB of hard drive space. The client application works with Internet Explorer 4.0, Netscape Communicator 6.0 or any later releases of the browsers. 1. Call
Green Apple and let us know that you will be using Accelerated Dialup.
7. Browse the web or download email as you normally would. Your web or email activity is automatically accelerated.
The SlipStream Accelerator launches automatically each time you start Windows. It operates in the background to accelerate your Internet connection. No user intervention is required. If the Accelerator is not running and you need to launch it manually, go to Start >> Programs >> SlipStream >> SlipStream Web Accelerator:
The SlipStream icon will appear in the system tray on the task bar to indicate it is running:
Generally there is no need to access the SlipStream Accelerator interface. However, should the need arise, left or right click on the SlipStream icon in the system tray on the task bar:
A pop-up menu will appear. To select a menu item, left-click on it:
1. Right-click on the SlipStream icon in the
system tray on the taskbar.
The image quality setting determines the quality of images which are shown when accelerating. The higher the quality, the longer it takes to load; the lower the quality, the shorter it takes. Slower connections can improve performance by using a lower image quality. You can obtain full image quality for a particular image (see 'Getting Full Image Quality' below), so do not be overly concerned with lowering your image quality setting. 1. Right-click on the SlipStream icon in the
system tray on the taskbar.
Note: The following information applies only when browsing with Internet Explorer. While browsing, if you would like to request the full quality image, simply right-click on desired image and select "Show Original Image" from menu: If you want to see the full quality version of all images on the current page, select "Show All Original Images" from the menu.
The SlipStream Accelerator can block or allow pop-up windows and floating flash advertisements from appearing while you browse the Internet. The default behavior is to block. To control the pop-up block/allow behavior: 1. Right-click on the SlipStream icon in the
system tray on the taskbar.
Certain websites need pop-ups to function correctly. When the Accelerator is set to block pop-ups, a "White List" of sites which are not blocked may be provided. These sites are managed through the "White List" tab of the "Pop-Up Blocker" window. Use "Add", "Remove" and "Remove All" to manage the "White List". To see the list of pop-ups which were blocked, click the "Logging" tab of the "Pop-Up Blocker" window. When finished with Pop-Up Blocker window, hit OK. Besides adding "White List" sites through the Pop-Up Blocker window, you can add directly from Internet Explorer. When you are on a website you do not want to block, right-click on any text and select "Add to Whitelist" from menu:
The SlipStream Accelerator starts automatically, but occasionally you may need to stop or start manually. To stop, 1. Exit any open web browsers. The SlipStream icon in the system tray icon will now have a red "X" through it.
To Start, 1. Exit any open web browsers. The Accelerator is not started until the web browser first connects to a website. To disconnect and exit the SlipStream Accelerator 1. Right-click on the
SlipStream icon in the system tray on the taskbar. [Note: SlipStream Accelerator will automatically start again next time you reboot your computer.]
