Instructions for installing from Green Apple supplied CD only
- Turn on your computer and begin a Windows 3.1 session
- Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive
- From the Program Manager, click on File >> Run
- Type d:\win16\setup (where d: is the letter of your CD-ROM drive) and
click "OK".
IE 5.0 installation instructions
- Microsoft Internet Tools Setup. Click "Next".
- License Agreement. Review the license agreement and check "I accept the
agreement". Click "Next".
- Installation Option. This menu offers two choices (standard and full) for
software suite installation.
- Standard Installation includes:
- Internet Explorer 5.0 browser
- Full Installation includes:
- Internet Explorer 5.0 browser
- Outlook Express
- Stack and Dialer
- Microsoft Virtual Machine (Java Engine)
- The standard installation is recommended for PCs which have previously
been configured for Internet access. The full installation is recommended for
PCs which do not have any existing Microsoft brand Internet software already
installed.
- Select the installation you prefer and click "Next".
- Destination Folder. This option allows you to choose a location where the
software should be installed. It is recommended that this be left at the
suggested default "c:\msie50". Click "Next".
- Installation. The install program will begin copying files to your
computer. Depending on the speed of your computer and/or CD-ROM drive, this
process may take several minutes. Additional files will be installed if you
selected the Full Installation option from Step 3.
- [X] OLE 2.03 for Win 3.1/Win NT 3.51
- [X] Internet Explorer 5
- [X] Outlook Express
- [X] Stack and Dialer (*See Step 6)
- [X] Microsoft Virtual Machine
- [X] Browser Customizations
- If you selected Standard Installation during Step 3, skip to Step 13.
- If you selected Full Installation during Step 3, proceed to Step 12.
- During the software installation, the computer will prompt you for modem
information immediately after installing the Stack and Dialer package. If you
are not certain of the brand/model number, it is recommended you allow the
installation software to auto-detect your modem.
- Confirm that the dialogue "Don't detect my modem; I will select it from
a list" is NOT checked. Click "Next".
- If a modem is detected click "Next". If no modem is found, and you are
certain that a modem is installed and functional in your PC, please call
Green Apple for technical assistance.
- Location Information. Please provide information on your current
location so that your calls can be dialed correctly. Enter your Area Code in
the provided field and click "Next".
- Setup has finished installing components. You will be presented with the
finish screen, suggesting to reboot your computer. Press "Reboot".
- After Reboot, you will be prompted to input Time Zone information.
Specify Eastern Time Zone and click "OK".
- Windows will continue to load and will build a new Program Group
containing the Internet Explorer 5.0 icons.
Congratulations, you are finished installing the software! |
