This document describes how to configure WebTV for modem access through Green Apple (versus using an access number provided by WebTV). Besides the login and password you will need from Green Apple, you must have a login and password provided to you through WebTV. For this, as well as information on the cabling setup of WebTV and how to use the WebTV software, please see the WebTV manuals.

Configuring WebTV For Green Apple Access

  1. Make sure you are on the Web TV screen, not the Web TV Plus screen.
  2. Select 'Settings'
  3. Select 'Dialing and Connecting'
  4. Select 'Use Your ISP'
  5. Select 'Continue'.
  6. Select 'Continue'.
  7. Select 'Continue'.
  8. In 'Use Your Own ISP' window, enter
       Check this box and fill in blanks to
         [x] use you own Internet Service Provider
  9. Service Provider Name: Green Apple
    Login name: <your Green Apple login>
    Password: <your Green Apple password>
  10. Depending on your location, use one of the following dial-in numbers:
             Lancaster: 654-2133 (and surrounding areas)
             Columbus: 834-5124
  11. Select 'Done'
  12. Select 'Done'
  13. Select 'Done' to exit setup.

Alternate methods to get to the "Use your ISP" section of setup without dialing a long distance phone number (to be used only after registration with Web TV by phone):

Method 1

  1. Press options key (2 keys to right of space) 3 times.
  2. Type in 217.
  3. After units lights flash, press power button to turn on and off.
  4. Unit should go to the dial settings.

Method 2

  1. Go to section where unit is ready to dial long distance number.
  2. Unplug phone and set unit to dial number.
  3. After the dial fails due to no dial tone select options and Use your ISP.
