This document describes how to configure WebTV for modem access through Green Apple (versus using an access number provided by WebTV). Besides the login and password you will need from Green Apple, you must have a login and password provided to you through WebTV. For this, as well as information on the cabling setup of WebTV and how to use the WebTV software, please see the WebTV manuals.

Configuring WebTV For Green Apple Access

  1. Select 'Setup'
  2. Select 'Dialing'
  3. Select 'Basic'
  4. If you need a special number for outside access, enter it.
  5. If you have pulse dialing, put a checkmark in 'Pulse Dialing' box
  6. Select 'Done'
  7. Select 'Call Waiting' Fill in whatever applicable information applies to your call waiting service. Select 'Done'
  8. Select 'Use your ISP'
  9. Select 'Continue'.
  10. Select 'Continue'.
  11. Select 'Continue'.
  12. In 'Use Your Own ISP' window, enter
       Check this box and fill in blanks to
         [x] use you own Internet Service Provider
  13. Service Provider Name: Green Apple
       Login name: <your Green Apple login>
       Password: <your Green Apple password>
  14. Depending on your location, use one of the following dial-in numbers:
             Lancaster: 654-2133 (and surrounding areas)
             Columbus: 834-5124
  15. Select 'Done'.
  16. Select 'Access'
  17. These are where access numbers to WebTV are placed. If you are going to dialup to the Internet through Green Apple, these fields should be empty.
  18. Select 'Done'.
  19. Select 'Done' to exit setup.
