it on your desktop.

Depending on your location, use one of the following dial-in numbers:
Lancaster: 654-2133 (and surrounding areas)
Columbus: 834-5124
If you have call-waiting, add

Once Config PPP is configured, you might want
to create an alias for it and place the alias in the Green Apple folder for
easy access (assuming you are going to put all you Internet applications
there).
Connecting
Open Config PPP. Hit the 'Open' button. The
modem will then dial up. When the connection is ready, the display 'PPP Down'
becomes 'PPP Up' and you are ready to an Internet application (e.g., Netscape,
Eudora).
To disconnect, close all open Internet
applications. Go back to Config PPP and hit 'Soft Close'.
Corrupt Preferences
A semi-common problem with MacTCP/Config PPP is
the corruption of the TCP and PPP preferences. This problem is evidenced in
two ways:
- The message 'PPP Down' never changes to 'PPP
Up' although all the configuration information (esp. login and password) are
correct and the modem has successfully dialed and completed modem handshake
- After dialing in the 'PPP Up' message does
show, but no Internet applications work.
To fix this problem, remove the TCP Preferences
and the PPP Preferences from the Preferences folder and remove the file 'TCP
DNR' from the System Folder. After this, reconfigure MacTCP and Config PPP as
described above. |
