| July 27, 2003 Microsoft has issued notice of a flaw found in the Windows operating system. The flaw has the potential to severely compromise a computer running Windows; Microsoft has given the flaw a Severity Rating of Critical. It is associated with DirectX, the Windows library which performs multimedia handling, and could be exploited by carefully crafted buffer overruns. Microsoft has a fix available through Windows Update. They recommend all users of Windows 98, Me, NT, 2000, XP and 2003 Server operating system visit Windows Update and install the fix.
