| July 16, 2003 Microsoft has issued notice of a severe security flaw in Windows. The flaw involves the RPC interface, the software component which handles remote procedure calls. It affects Windows NT 4.0, NT 4.0 Terminal Server, 2000, XP, and Server 2003. The flaw could allow an intruder the ability to gain local system privileges, such as installing programs or viewing and modifying data. Microsoft has made a patch available to close
the security hole and strongly recommends users download and install it. The
