Green Apple has received reports on the Sasser
worm. The worm exploits a software bug found in the Microsoft Windows 2000,
XP, and Server 2003 operating systems to gain access to the PC. The bug is
documented
here. The exploits, if successful, will grant attackers full access to
the victims' computers. The worm spreads by scanning IP addresses in the
Internet for the vulnerability.
Users are encouraged to patch their Windows
Operating System through
Windows Update.
If you believe that your computer is
compromised and could use help, please do not hesitate to
give us a
call. As always,
Green Apple users are welcome to bring in their machines for worm/virus
scans and worm/virus removals.
